Vom 15. bis 21. Juni 2026 fin­det die Woche für Demokratie und Vielfalt in der Gemeinde Blankenfelde-Mahlow statt. Zum 30. Mal jährt sich der Anschlag auf Noël Martin. Die Aktionswoche der Gemeinde posi­tio­niert sich klar für eine offe­ne Gesellschaft, den Dialog der Generationen und gegen das Vergessen.

Aus die­sem Anlass laden die Koordinierungsstelle Gesellschaftlicher Zusammenhalt/Tolerantes Brandenburg (MASGZ), die Stiftung Großes Waisenhaus zu Potsdam und die durch die Waisenhaus-Stiftung treu­hän­de­risch ver­wal­te­te Noël- und Jacqueline-Martin-Stiftung Sie zu der Eröffnungsveranstaltung ein.

 

Im Rahmen des Programms erwar­tet Sie unter ande­rem

  • die Eröffnung durch Minister René Wilke und Bürgermeister Michael Schwuchow
  • ein lite­ra­ri­scher Impulsvortrag der Autorin Manja Präkels
  • sowie eine Diskussion zum Thema: Rassismus im Alltag. Gemeinsam mit:
    • Manja Präkels, Autorin
    • Marianne Ballé Moudoumbou, PAWLO-Masoso e.V. Panafrikanische Frauenorganisation.
    • Ines Schroeder-Sprenger, ehe­ma­li­ge stell­ver­tre­ten­de Ausländerbeauftrage des Landes Brandenburg

Im Anschluss laden wir Sie herz­lich bei Getränken und Imbiss zu Gesprächen, Begegnung und Vernetzung ein.

WIDER PROGRAMME, MAHLOW DEMOCRACY AND DIVERSITY WEEK, 15–21 June 2026

A com­me­mo­ra­ti­ve march and memo­ri­al event start­ing at S‑Bahnhof Mahlow at 5pm on Tuesday 16 June mark the cen­tre­pie­ce of a week-long series of events to send a signal of com­mit­ment to com­bat racism and pro­mo­te demo­cra­cy and diver­si­ty, detail­ed on the local council’s web­site.

Further high­lights include:

  • Official ope­ning of the Democracy and Diversity Week on Monday 15 June, by Brandenburg’s Social Cohesion (and for­mer Interior) Minister René Wilke and local mayor Michael Schwuchow, fol­lo­wed by a podi­um dis­cus­sion about ever­y­day racism.
  • The stan­ding out­door-exhi­bi­ti­on on the fore­court of S‑Bahnohf Mahlow, “Kein schö­ner Land” (“no finer place”), com­me­mo­ra­ting the 23 peo­p­le who have lost their lives to far-right, racist or anti-Semitic vio­lence in Brandenburg sin­ce 1990. The exhi­bi­ti­on will remain for the dura­ti­on of the week.
  • Workshop for local child­ren about the topic of racism, run joint­ly by the British Embassy and local Brandenburg SPD Landtag MP Ines Seiler, plus a pain­ting and dra­wing com­pe­ti­ti­on for school­child­ren, on the the­me of “All of us here – tog­e­ther – and dif­fe­rent”.
  • Book rea­ding at the local Gymnasium by the aut­hor Manja Präkels from her novel “Als ich mit Hitler Schnapskirschen aß” („When I ate schnaps cher­ries with Hitler“), in which she wri­tes about the end of the GDR and the rise of far-right groups in Brandenburg; plus an inter­ge­ne­ra­tio­nal dia­lo­gue at the local secon­da­ry school.
  • Breakfast with the youth worker guests from Birmingham invol­ved in the bila­te­ral exch­an­ge pro­gram­me with local coun­ter­parts in Mahlow. The Birmingham col­le­agues will also offer a diver­si­ty work­shop at the local youth club.
  • Intercultural brunch at the local women’s shel­ter for vic­tims of dome­stic abu­se and gen­der-based vio­lence.
  • International coo­king exer­cise, with guests pre­sen­ting and pre­pa­ring their favou­ri­te natio­nal and regio­nal dis­hes, plus an open-air cine­ma scree­ning of French social-culina­ry come­dy Die Küchenbrigade.
  • International sports fes­ti­val, pre­sen­ting dif­fe­rent sports from around the world.
  • Sponsored local run/walk/ride around Lichtenrade to rai­se funds for church work with addicts.
  • Protestant Church musi­cal about dre­a­ming of a bet­ter world, plus an ecu­me­ni­cal call to pray­er for diver­si­ty.
  • Argentine sin­ger con­cert, “We’re all child­ren under the same sky”.
